The other pub I went this weekend was Trisquel, located at San Vicente Ferrer street. The Trisquel is a tiny irish pubs, with two floors, in between the area of Tribunal. In this pub you will usually find irish or english men drinking, but for me, is not a remarkable pub. It is tiny, with spanish waiters, and the pints are not very well served, I don't know if it was because it was Saturday night, but they didn't wait to serve the pint in two times, as most of the others, they don't offer live music (for me is a very nice thing to remark on a pub), and they broadcast some matches, but as is a small place, I don't think it is the best place to enjoy a match. In conclusion, I don't see the charming I see in the other pubs, but it's ok at the end, it's just, under my point of view, it is not remarkable. The price, between 4,5 and 6€, depending on the beer.

Madrid Irish Pubs: Molly Malone

After a quick visit to Madrid, I will comment the two pubs I visited. The first one was the legendary Molly Malone, located at Manuela Malasaña street. The Molly Malone was the first official Guinness pub of Madrid, is a pretty big pub, with irish decoration, several environments distributed in two floors, every now and then they have live music (but rarely), and they broadcast several sports in the several screens across the pub. This pub has irish waiters (esssential to be according to the environment) and the most important thing, there are irish men lying on the bar, sign of a well served beer. The treat is good, and I recommend not going on a friday or saturday night, as it gets crowded and there is not place to seat, and having a pint staying on your feet and fast served is not ok, but if you can seat and relax with your pint, that's a really big pleasure. When is pretty empty, they draw a shamrock on the pint :) (thing that I love), I think the price was between 5 and 5,5€ (this time I was invited, sorry!). In conclusion, the Molly is my favourite irish pub in Madrid by now, because it is very well located, it has an irish environment and it's a really nice place to have a pint and a talk with someone.

Barcelona Irish Pubs: Shamrock Sports Bar
The second pub I visited seems to be a bit better than the first one, a big difference. I had been before at Shamrock pub, because this pub has one of the main points to be a good irish pub, and that is, having irish people drinking in. This pub is located at Tallers street, at the square. It's a perfect place to enjoy matches, and also to drink a pint quietly if you don't enjoy football.
It's pretty big, with a lot of irish decoration and irish waiters, who served well the pints of Guinness, but the staff could be better, they are pretty slow and disregarded, but friendly. The pints cost 5€, a reasonable price for a pint of Guinness. The only thing I can say about this pub as a possible improvement is that it would be better if the had live music.

St Patrick's day 2014
Let the craic be with you!
The other day I received an email that firstly made me so happy until I saw the date, because friends, St Patrick's day is not over. Next saturday, 29th March, it will be a Saint Patrick's party at Barcelona. What happens, is that I will be at Madrid and I won't be able to attend :(. But, if you're interested, there will be irish dance, trad music played live (jam session) and surely many Guinness. Next year I won't miss it! Here you can check the program :).

Barcelona Irish Pubs: Hyde Park
My first visit to an irish pub has been a little disgusting, and call it a visit seems too much.
For changing, I wanted to go to an irish pub located at my neighbourhood (Sant Andreu) that I haven't visited until now, and it was better not to. The Hyde Park is a tiny irish pub, located at the street Joan Torras, very close to Gran de Sant Andreu. It has irish decoration, with wood tables and stools, and a wood bar with shamrocks carved on it, the sign outside is green, so at the end, it seems quite irish. The first thing that surprised me when I went in, was that the staff was chinese, so the atmosphere doesn't look very irish, I missed the irish accent at the other side of the bar, but anyway, that shouldn't be a problem, I don't think all the irish pubs are managed by truly irish people. The problem here was the attending was so bad and the service was a disaster with no coordination between them, and that made us leaving before even have a pint (and I love pints). It's been a disappointment and I doubt I go back there.
The only thing I can say it's that the pints of Guinness cost 4,75€, not bad, but I seriosly doubt they deserved it and they're well served. Tomorrow, I'll visit another pub when I'm off from work, so I can take off the bad taste in my mouth.

Empezando...
Hola,
Hi,
Due to my liking for everything related to Ireland, I've been thinking about the idea of writing about it, so I can have an excuse for exploring deeper everything related to this island. The idea consists on starting a review of irish pubs, basically in Barcelona, and wherever I go, and anything which has something to do with Ireland, it can be gaelic, Saint Patrick's day, irish music, whatever, but I'll start criticizing (or commending :)) the irish pubs I visit. As I want it to be the most realistic as possible (taking into account that it's my blog and I can say whatever I want), I'm starting from zero, and I will only talk about the places I visit from now and on.
I hope you like it.
